Search Engine Optimisation

Natural search engine optimisation can be divided into two camps, the black hats and the white hats. The black hats use any trick in the book to try to get good search engine ratings; these range from slight naughty, such as keyword spamming and hiding content to malicious, such as detecting the search engines agents and showing them a completely different site. The white hats realise that search engines want to find good content to serve to customers and try to adapt a customers website to provide it.

The black hats used to get great results but over the last couple of years the tide is changing and the black hats have to work harder and faster just to keep up. Many of the black hat techniques are now blocked and in some cases have led to sites being completely banned from Google. Pollenation are in the white hat camp and have managed to keep our website in the top of the Leeds and Yorkshire search engine rankings for the last four years without any major changes. See our clients section for more real world results.

  • adaption of existing website builds to search engine optimised css layout
  • semantic HTML

  • link popularity consultancy and implementation

  • Website performance metrics and analysis

Why does this make a difference?

  • search engines follow the HTML so valid HTML makes the spiders job a lot easier in terms of 'reading' the information
  • css layout addresses the balance of HTML to content, so the emphasis is on content, which is what the engines focus on
  • the use of semantic HTML means the header tags, link titles, etc are all used correctly, as search engines place emphasis on these aspects
  • internal linking strategies where related content is linked is important for spiders and it gives them access to related content easily
  • link building is about participating in the industry you are in, such as ensuring you are in the main industry directories, participating in the right forums

What else can we do?

  • Through analsysing the log files we can review the conversions through the site from search engine optimisation
  • Monthly reporting on rankings
  • Knowledge sharing with internal team so the client can manage the day to day management of the campaign
