Approach

Pollenation has developed certain approaches that are key to its business proposition. These approaches are what we believe will give you a better deal and help us create more value for our customers on an ongoing basis.

Flexible deliverables

It is a fact of life that a project will change as it is being worked on. Standard practices make these changes very difficult and add further cost every time. In most cases, it is not until a project has started that the ideal path will become clear

We believe that change shouldn’t always be perceived as extra work but as a change in focus. This change in focus means that less work may be done on one area of the project and more on another and this should not result in increased costs.

Status availability

We understand from experience that anything that is unknown or uncertain causes worry. Because of this we ensure that the status of any project is always available and we will actively communicate milestone changes as and when they happen.

We achieve this through the use of a tool called 'trac'. This tool allows us to have a central repository of ideas, plans, specifications but also records 'tickets' for issues that need addressing, whether they be software related or not. This trac system acts as a central hub for the task management and helps us manage the flexibility mentioned above.

Collaborative teamwork

Teamwork is essential to how Pollenation operate. We apply the practice of ‘extreme programming’ to our bespoke development work which essentially promotes very close teamwork and constant flexibility. This also applies to our teamwork with our clients where we try to include them in our development processes.

Lifelong learning

Unlike most companies where learning is applied outside the scope of paid work and does not relate to real life activities, Pollenation are always looking for better and more efficient ways of achieving results through learning on the job. This means that if there is a way to make your project better, faster, more efficient, etc, we will be investigating it for you rather than reacting to your competitors.

Focus on business benefits

Because we treat the project as a whole and the same people work from start to finish, we can keep a perspective on what the goal of the project is. Instead of subdividing a project into small pieces and creating standalone tasks for each specialist, we can keep our focus on the real business benefits and hence make intelligent compromises and re-align development to increase cost efficiency.
