Internet technology and terminology is sometimes confusing and, like other industries where it is difficult for the consumer to completely understand what they are paying for, disreputable companies will try to take advantage of this.
Many other industries have regulating bodies (such as the institute of chartered accountants) to approve and monitor company standards and behaviour. The internet has no such regulating body and as such so Pollenation have looked to other sources to try to demonstrate our trustworthiness and professional ability.
Small Business Service
Pollenation are fully approved consultants under the Small Business Service (SBS) registry The SBS is an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry. The SBS requires consultants to
- demonstrate that they have appropriate process consultancy skills, and appropriate knowledge and understanding in the specialist discipline(s)
- demonstrate that they are engaging in appropriate continuing professional development (CPD)
- subject themselves to customer satisfaction scrutiny
The SBS also requires that members have comprehensive professional indemnity insurance and personally assesses candidates for aptitude.
Platinum Member of the DTI's Club UK Online for Business
The Department of Trade and Industry and Business Link have created an information communications technology (ICT) supplier development programme for the Yorkshire and Humber area. Pollenation have been assessed and have been confirmed Platinum members.
Best Practice Network Expert Panel Member
The Best Practice Network is the business link channel for promoting quality standards for suppliers of ICT services. Tim Parkin has been selected as an expert panel member providing support to members on questions relating to the provision of standards based web and software development.
